What Can I Order?
I offer a range of celebration cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, brownies, cookies and traybakes. My most popular flavours are - vanilla, chocolate, lemon, raspberry or salted caramel. If you are looking for something specific please get in touch to discuss.
How do I place an order?
I accept orders via the Butterfly Baking website, Facebook, Instagram or email address. If you would like to discuss placing an order it’s best to include some basic details with your first message such as - what date would you like the order for, how many people are you looking to serve and if you have any ideas about the theme, flavour, colours etc.
Can you replicate an idea I’ve seen online?
Pictures you send can be used as inspiration and can be helpful bringing your ideas to life but please note I do not copy other baker’s work.
Can I collect today?
Unfortunately no, all items are made to order so I don’t have things available for immediate collection. On the odd occasion I have some spare cupcakes or treats you’ll find these advertised on Facebook and Instagram.
How much notice do you need?
It’s always best to give as much notice as possible, ideally one month's notice for cakes and 2 weeks for everything else so there is enough time to order things like toppers or decorations. I recommend getting in touch when you know the date of your event or celebration and you can confirm the finer details closer to the time. Please be aware that weekends and dates around key celebrations like Mother’s Day, Christmas etc always get booked up quickest.
Do you deliver?
Delivery within Edinburgh and Midlothian can be arranged for an additional fee based on mileage. Sometimes it’s possible to deliver a bit further away but this needs a bit more notice and usually involves my husband or parents!
Do you post?
We offer a box of brownies which can be posted to addresses within the UK. These are sent by First Class Royal Mail.
Do you cater for allergies or dietry requirements ?
I can adapt my recipes to omit items such as wheat, gelatine, dairy or eggs. However as I do use these products in my kitchen I have to class them as ‘made without’ rather than ‘free from.’ Obviously there are strict cleaning and storage procedures in place to avoid cross contamination but my bakes might not be suitable depending on the severity of the allergy/dietary condition. Please contact me to discuss before placing an order.
Can I send something as a gift?
We can arrange delivery of a gifted item and have cards which can be included with a message of your choice. We ask that you confirm that the recipient will be at the address at the time arranged and that you provide a telephone number that we can contact should there be any issues with access or delivery.
How do I pay?
For cakes and larger orders I ask for a 20% deposit to secure the date as this allows me to organise the ingredients/toppers/decorations in advance. Then the final balance is due to be paid by cash or card on collection or as a transfer before you arrive on the day. All other items can be paid for by cash, bank transfer or card on the day of collection. If you are ordering on behalf of a company I can arrange an invoice and payment link to be emailed to you.
Why haven’t you replied to my message?
I try to respond to all messages within 48 hours. I bake around a full-time job and try to avoid contacting people late in the evening. I appreciate your patience while waiting for a response. Please be aware that repeat messaging moves your initial message back to the bottom of the inbox.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Where possible I try to accommodate any changes but sometimes this isn’t possible due to my availability. If you need to cancel for any reason please provide a minimum of 48 hours notice. Cancellations received after this time will incur a cost as items will have been bought/prepared.
